Easy Savory Halloween Treats with Chili Sauces

Add chili sauce to these savory Halloween recipes according to your taste. Start with just a drop per bite, taste as you go, and increase the heat depending on how spine-chilling you want the dishes to be! The hottest chili sauces are best mixed into dips for savory treats — or even into glazes for sweet ones.

👻🔥 Soosikauppa tip: Add an extra drop of super-hot chili sauce to some of the snacks, for example, per deviled egg or pizza slice and let your guests enjoy the Halloween suspense of whether they’ll bite into a tongue-scorching surprise!

Mummy Sausages

  • 15–20 regular or cocktail sausages
  • 1 package of ready-made puff pastry sheets (one sheet is enough for approx. 3–4 sausages)
  • chili sauce
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Add chili sauce to the puff pastry sheets and spread it evenly.
  3. Cut the puff pastry sheets into long strips about half a centimeter thick.
  4. Wrap the sausages with the puff pastry strips and bake until the pastry turns golden brown.
  5. Add drops of chili sauce to the mummies as “eyes” and serve.

Spicy Bat Wings

  • 20 chicken wings (approx. a 700 g package)
  • chili sauce to taste
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C.
  2. Mix the ingredients in a bowl and toss the wings in the marinade.
  3. Spread the wings on a baking tray and bake for about 25–30 minutes, until they are cooked through and crispy.
  4. The dark marinade helps give the wings the desired look, but you can also add bat-themed decorations to the serving platter to really bring the theme to life.

Mummy Pizza

Use a pizza base, or alternatively naan bread or tortillas. A round base works well for creating a mummy “face,” but you can also shape the dough into several smaller, full mummy figures. Green-colored toppings work best for the mummy theme.

  • pizza base
  • tomato sauce
  • a package of mozzarella
  • chili sauce
  • optional (green) toppings: e.g. sliced jalapeños, olives, spinach, green peppers.
  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C, or to the temperature recommended for your chosen base.
  2. Spread tomato sauce on the base and add chili sauce to taste.
  3. Slice the mozzarella, but first place only the other optional toppings on the pizza.
  4. Arrange the mozzarella slices all over the pizza as the mummy’s “bandages,” placing them more closely together toward the top.
  5. Place olive slices near the top to create the mummy’s “eyes.”
  6. Bake until golden brown for 8–12 minutes (or according to the pizza base instructions).

Deviled Eggs (Stuffed Eggs)

  • 9 eggs
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • chili sauce to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • a pinch of salt and pepper
  • paprika powder for garnish
  1. Boil the eggs until hard- or medium-hard, peel them, and cut them in half.
  2. Remove the yolks and place them in a separate bowl.
  3. Mash the yolks with a fork and mix in the remaining ingredients.
  4. Spoon or pipe the filling into the egg halves.
  5. Garnish by sprinkling paprika powder on top and serve warm, if possible.

Pumpkin Cheese Ball

  • 400 g plain cream cheese
  • 150 g grated cheddar cheese
  • chili sauce
  • 100 g crushed tortilla chips or crackers
  • paprika stem for garnish
  1. Let the cream cheese soften at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Mix it in a bowl with the grated cheddar and chili sauce.
  3. Shape the mixture into a large ball and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight to set.
  4. Remove the firm cheese ball from the fridge and use a butter knife to shape the pumpkin ridges.
  5. Roll the pumpkin in crushed tortilla chips, crackers, or even spicy chip crumbs.
  6. Finish with a green paprika stem and serve with crackers, breadsticks, or vegetables for dipping.

The Hottest Chili Sauces for Savory Halloween Treats

Also put the following ultra-hot chili sauces to the test. Due to their extreme heat, they’re recommended specifically for cooking:

Dawson’s XXX Ghost Pepper Mash Hot Sauce 155ml

Dawson’s XXX Ghost Pepper Mash is more of an intensely hot chili mash than a traditional sauce, and it contains no artificial additives at all. Each bottle packs in a generous 30 Ghost Peppers, delivering layers of garlicky and vinegary flavor before the heat comes crashing through your taste buds.

Poppamies Scorpion Hot Sauce 150 ml

Finland’s own Poppamies Scorpion is made for those who crave intense heat. More than half of the bottle is fiery Trinidad Scorpion chili, yet the flavor stays fresh thanks to lime and sugarcane vinegar. This vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free sauce is perfect for heat lovers and works especially well with grilled foods, burgers, and tacos.

Hellfire Fear This! Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce 148ml

This extremely hot sauce features a flavor profile built around garlic, tomatillos, onion, and a hint of curry. Use it drop by drop — in tacos, nachos, or grilled meats — whenever you’re looking for a powerful, spicy kick.

Hellfire Fiery Fool Hot Sauce 148ml

This super-hot sauce is strictly for the experienced, as more than 80% of its content consists of the world’s hottest chilies — Carolina Reaper, Trinidad Scorpion, 7-Pot Primo, and Ghost Pepper. The sauce also has a fruity note, making it suitable for tacos, pizzas, grilled dishes, marinades, or even baked goods.

Easy Spicy Halloween Dips

By mixing chili sauce into creamy bases like sour cream, cream cheese, crème fraîche, or guacamole, you can offer your guests more approachable options where the flavor still shines through. Spicy dips pair perfectly with the savory snacks mentioned above and also work great with nachos, vegetables, and breadsticks.

Spicy Cream Cheese Dip

  • 200 g cream cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • a pinch of salt and pepper
  • chili sauce to taste

Mix the ingredients together and serve.

Spicy Guacamole Dip

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • chili sauce
  • ½ red onion (preferably finely chopped)
  • 1 tomato (diced)
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • a pinch of salt and pepper
  • chili sauce

Mash the avocados, mix them with the other ingredients, and serve.

Spicy Ranch Dip

  • 1 dl crème fraîche
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • chili sauce

Mix the ingredients together and serve.

👻🔥 Soosikauppa tip: Place a bottle (or bottles) on the table alongside the dips so guests can mix in extra heat themselves — a fun way to challenge their spice tolerance by dialing up the burn bite by bite.

Easy Sweet and Spicy Halloween Treats

If you want sweet, Halloween-themed treats on the table, you can simply buy ready-made brownies, cookies, muffins, or a cake from the store and decorate them with a spicy sugar glaze using the recipe below.

If you want the heat to carry through the entire dessert, you can add chili sauce directly into the batter or mixture during the preparation stage.

Remember to taste as you go and add chili sauce carefully — heat can always be increased later in the glaze or drizzled directly over the dessert, but it’s much harder to tone it down.

👻🔥 Soosikauppa tip: It’s smart to keep the batter slightly milder than your final target heat, since you can add chili sauce to the glaze and adjust little by little until you hit the perfect kick.

Spicy Glaze for Decorating

A sugar glaze is an easy way to add heat to sweet Halloween treats — simply drizzle it directly over ready-made brownies, cookies, cakes, and more. The base color is creamy white or a soft pale pink, depending on the amount of chili sauce used, and you can add food coloring as you like. You’ll need a piping bag or a freezer bag with the corner cut off, especially if you want to pipe the glaze precisely or create decorative patterns.

  • 3 dl powdered sugar
  • a total of 2–3 tbsp of liquid
    • 1–2 tbsp water or another liquid, such as lemon juice or coffee
    • 1 tsp–1 tbsp chili sauce
  • food coloring
  • optionally, a pinch of a spice to balance the heat, such as cinnamon, cayenne pepper, ground ginger, cloves, or nutmeg
  1. Pour the powdered sugar into a bowl and gradually add the water or liquid, stirring until the mixture is smooth and reaches the desired consistency.
  2. Transfer the finished glaze into a piping bag or a small freezer bag.
  3. Cut a small hole in the corner and decorate the cooled baked goods.
  4. Let the glaze dry at room temperature, preferably for at least a couple of hours before serving.

Spicy Halloween Chocolate Chip Cookies

You can easily add chili sauce to chocolate chip cookies to give them a bold, spicy twist.

  • 100 g room-temperature butter
  • 1 dl sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2½ dl all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • chili sauce or a chili spice blend
  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the butter, sugar, and chili sauce until smooth.
  3. Add the egg and mix well.
  4. Mix the flour and baking powder together, then add them to the dough. Stir until evenly combined.
  5. Add the chopped chocolate or chocolate chips and mix well.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the baking tray, leaving space between each one.
  7. Bake the cookies for about 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool for a moment.
  9. If you like, decorate them with a spicy glaze.

The recipe makes about 12–15 cookies, depending on how large you roll them.

Spicy Halloween Brownies

For spicy Halloween brownies, you can replace the chili sauce — or use it alongside — an unusual and exciting spice blend whose cocoa and bacon notes work surprisingly well in chocolate-based desserts!

Widowmakers BBQ Zombie Bacon Rub 280g

Batter ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g melted butter
  • 2½ dl milk
  • 3 dl sugar
  • 7 dl all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp dark cocoa powder
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • chili sauce or a chili spice blend

Glaze ingredients:

  • 500 g powdered sugar
  • 3–4 tbsp dark cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp strong coffee (add more if needed to adjust the consistency)
  • 150 g melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • chili sauce or a chili spice blend

Preparing the batter:

  1. Melt the butter.
  2. Whisk the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients together: flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and vanilla sugar.
  4. Mix the chili sauce or chili spice into the melted butter.
  5. Add the liquids and dry ingredients alternately to the egg-and-sugar mixture, a little at a time, and gently fold the batter until smooth. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the batter tough.
  6. Bake at 200°C for about 15 minutes.

Preparing the glaze:

  1. Mix the melted butter, coffee, vanilla extract, and chili sauce. Taste as you go to gauge the level of heat.
  2. Sift the powdered sugar in a little at a time, mixing until the glaze is smooth and even.
  3. Pour the glaze over the base and spread it evenly.
  4. Once the glaze has cooled, cut into bite-sized pieces and decorate with a Halloween theme — for example, bat-shaped sprinkles.

The recipe makes one tray of brownies, about 20–30 pieces.
Soosikauppa’s baking recommendation -> Poppamies Fire Demon Chili Sauce 150ml

Fire Demon is an extremely hot sauce made with chili extract, featuring notes of pineapple, mango, and passion fruit. This demon is best approached one drop at a time. 🔥

Spicy Halloween Candies

In addition to, or instead of, spicy baked treats, you can place a bowl of chillingly hot candies on the table!

Poppamies Dr. Blood Caramel 75g

Spicy caramel

This blood orange–flavored chili candy delivers a fiery surprise for your guests. The hard candy slowly releases heat that lingers on the palate for a long time. It’s completely vegan, lactose-free, and gluten-free, making it suitable for a wide range of diets.

Choosing and Using Chili Sauces for Halloween Treats

Decorating with “blood splatters” is an easy and eye-catching way to bring Halloween vibes to your spread. You can even splatter chili sauce over a dip for a fun, spooky effect. This works especially well for mummy sausages, nachos, and many sweet Halloween baked treats.

Serve a variety of dips alongside snacks such as nachos, chips, vegetables, or breadsticks. This way, guests can choose exactly how spicy they want their savory, and even sweet, treats to be.

Choose the heat level based on how much spice you want in the food and how adventurous your guests are. Remember to taste as you cook to avoid going overboard, and clearly label the hottest treats when serving.
