Barbacoa is one of Mexico’s oldest dishes. Traditionally, the meat is slow-cooked underground, wrapped in maguey leaves, until it becomes tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavors. With this Don Cabron spice mix, you can bring that same authentic, rich taste straight to your kitchen.

Recipe (4 servings):

  1. Use 1.2 kg of beef brisket or chuck, removing bones if necessary.
  2. Mix the spice blend with 40 ml of water and 40 ml of (apple) vinegar to make the marinade.
  3. Marinate the meat and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight.
  4. Cook in a slow cooker on low for 8 hours or in a pot with a lid until the meat pulls apart easily with a fork.
  5. Shred the meat and serve in tacos, burritos, or with guacamole.

Tip: Finish the dish with Don Cabron Macha de Dos Chiles sauce for an authentic Mexican heat.
